Progress!

Within days of getting our permits, our contractor got his guys to work on tearing down the asbestos shingles, the cracking plaster walls, the old windows, kitchen cabinets...well, almost everything.  We're keeping the hardwood floors and the newel post going up the stairs, but pretty much everything else couldn't really be salvaged.

Once most of the demolition was done, they got to work on the foundation for the addition we're putting on the back of the house, and now the framing.  It's amazing to see it all coming together!

Here are a ton of pictures to enjoy.

The original cedar shake and clapboard siding under the asbestos shingles.

Small room off the back of the house ripped off to make way for the addition.

Love the open porch!

We had to remove and fill in the basement underneath the porch, so will rebuild the porch floor.
Digging!

The footing for the foundation going in.

A view in our side door.

Foundation is poured.

First floor of the addition, where our kitchen and family room will be, is framed.

Standing in the dining room, looking at our future kitchen and family room.
Second floor addition is framed...our master suite!
