Moving right along!

We've had a lot of progress lately and it feels like we're close to having a house!  I need to get some of the newest photos off my phone but here are some I took early last week.  The siding is finished, the porch is finished, all the sheetrock is up and halfway spackled.  We also had to rush last weekend to wire for speakers and an alarm system, since you should really do that before the walls are closed up and we didn't know everything would be happening so quickly.  We're very happy with the pace of everything and hope they keep it up!

And lastly, this is inexplicably Owen & Ryan's favorite part of visiting the house.  It never fails that they "have to go to the bathroom" whenever we're there.  Gross!!!

Windows are in...

Today the guys installed all the windows, and it's finally looking like a real house again!  Tomorrow the doors will go in.

Progress!

Within days of getting our permits, our contractor got his guys to work on tearing down the asbestos shingles, the cracking plaster walls, the old windows, kitchen cabinets...well, almost everything.  We're keeping the hardwood floors and the newel post going up the stairs, but pretty much everything else couldn't really be salvaged.

Once most of the demolition was done, they got to work on the foundation for the addition we're putting on the back of the house, and now the framing.  It's amazing to see it all coming together!

Here are a ton of pictures to enjoy.

The original cedar shake and clapboard siding under the asbestos shingles.

Small room off the back of the house ripped off to make way for the addition.

Love the open porch!

We had to remove and fill in the basement underneath the porch, so will rebuild the porch floor.
Digging!

The footing for the foundation going in.

A view in our side door.

Foundation is poured.

First floor of the addition, where our kitchen and family room will be, is framed.

Let's start at the very beginning, it's a very good place to start...

As of Friday, we closed on our new house and will begin the process of a total renovation and addition.

When we renovated our last house we didn't document the process and it is one of our biggest regrets.  So I thought this blog would be a great way to see the befores and afters over the next few months.

Here are some photos of the house as it is now.  We are waiting on the Building Department to issue us a permit and then we can begin the transformation!
